A Forced Draught Cooler is a tubular convective air‑to‑gas heat exchanger, designed to cool extremely hot exhaust gases from industrial processes by passing ambient air over tubing. In this system, hot gas flows outside the tubes while cooler ambient air is pushed through the tubes by forced draft fans, lowering gas temperatures before downstream treatment.

Forced Draught Coolers are highly energy-efficient, requiring no water and operating with minimal pressure drop. Compared to water spray cooling or induced draft systems, they consume less power and are easier to maintain. Since the fan remains outside the hot gas stream, there’s no risk of fan damage or freezing—as can occur in induced draft setups—making them well-suited for high-temperature environments.

They are commonly used in sectors like steel production (EAF, AOD), sponge iron plants, cement manufacturing, power generation, and foundries. Any process generating high-temperature, dust-loaded flue gas—especially where water is scarce or where downstream filtration equipment needs cooling—can benefit significantly.
