An Electrostatic Precipitator (ESP) is a highly efficient particulate collection device used to capture and remove fine dust particles, aerosols, and smoke from industrial flue gases before they are released into the atmosphere. By utilizing electrostatic forces, ESPs achieve exceptional separation efficiency, making them essential for industries with strict emission norms. These systems are ideal for large-scale operations that generate significant volumes of particulate matter, such as cement manufacturing, power generation, steel production, and chemical processing.

The working principle of an ESP is based on the electrostatic charging of dust particles followed by their collection on oppositely charged surfaces. As polluted gas enters the ESP chamber, it passes through ionizing electrodes that emit a high-voltage electric field. This field imparts a negative or positive charge to suspended particles. Once charged, the particles are attracted to collector plates or tubes carrying the opposite charge, where they accumulate. The collected particles are periodically dislodged using mechanical rappers or vibrators, allowing them to fall into hoppers below. This continuous cycle ensures uninterrupted gas cleaning and minimal pressure loss, making ESPs energy-efficient and low-maintenance.
